| N E W A R T RETNA This is Retna's first art show in San Francisco. For the last decade, Retna has been an exceptionally prolific artist whose work has appeared on walls around the world. Albeit not always in galleries! In 1999 Retna reconstructed his first fashion advert, transforming mainstream advertising with his futuristically gritty style. Retna's sensuously exotic patterns consist of Mayan, Egyptian, and Asian motifs. He mixes his typography with a dash of Gustav Klimt and Alphonse Mucha for good measure. The results are stunning. Models become deities, and corporate advertising and public spaces are reinvented... ART 415 includes dozens of new works from Retna. Incuding a few 'liberated' billboards... |
| DAVID DEROSA David DeRosa is a classically trained painter who had the first public showing of his work earlier this year. Over the past several months, David has donated works in his signature after image style to a number of San Francisco non-profits, raising thousands of dollars in auctions for some top-notch organizations, including Visual Aid and Glide Memorial. David is currently working on commissioned portraits for a whole host of acclaimed actors, musicians, and professional athletes - several of which are included in this show. Along with some GIANT pieces that have NEVER been shown publicly! ART 415 is the first large scale exhibition of his work. |
